The farmhouse Le Macie is a family-run tourist facility, inside an organic farm certified since 2001, directed by Maria Pellegrini and Daniele Della Seta.
In the heart of Chianti, about 480 meters above sea level, Le Macie is overlooking Siena and dominates, with a view of three hundred and sixty degrees the surrounding countryside; is therefore the ideal place for those who want to enjoy the quiet of an authentic rural landscape of the Tuscan hills, made of woods, vineyards and olive groves, the unique charm of a farmhouse in Chianti, just a few minutes from Siena.

Enjoy a stay in a charming 18th-century Tuscan farmhouse
The spacious guest apartments are in the 18th-century farmhouse and in the barn, recently renovated in accordance to the original architecture.
All apartments have an independent entrance, central heating, dishwasher and TV.
In the garden there is a shaded area with table and chairs for each apartment, with a breathtaking view on the surrounding countryside. The parking area is also shaded.
Il Cedro

This apartment is located in the former barn. It consists of a spacious living room with kitchenette (refrigerator, freezer, stove with oven, and dishwasher), one bedroom with a queen bed, one bedroom with twin beds, one bathroom with a shower, and one with a bathtub. In front of the entrance there is a large shaded outdoor area with table and chairs.
The apartment is air-conditioned.
Il Ciliegio

This apartment is located in the former barn and is arranged over two floors. On the ground floor, there is a kitchen (refrigerator, freezer, 4-burner stove, and dishwasher) with a dining area. The first floor includes a spacious living room, one bedroom with a queen bed, one bedroom with twin beds, a bathroom with shower, and a storage room. In front of the entrance, there is a large shaded outdoor area with table and chairs.

Le Macie offers relaxing, comfortable accommodation.
The panoramic pool (5 x 15 m) and the Jacuzzi are available to guests during daylight hours; near the pool there is a common lounge with fireplace where guests can stop for a chat, play cards, or browse the many brochures featuring local attractions and activities. Within the 47-hectare farm, guests can enjoy walks through the woods and along the vineyards.
Wild and domestic animals may be encountered along the way, making for pleasant surprises. It is an ideal place for birdwatching enthusiasts.
The owners organize weekly visits and tastings of their products in the cellar (see dedicated page).
The farm stay includes:
Electricity, water, gas, weekly supply of basic linen (sheets and towels), final cleaning.
Use of the barbecue and ping-pong table.
One laundry machine wash for guests staying a week.
The visit to the cellar with tastings (only for those staying the entire week).
Arrival between 16:00 and 19:00.
Departure by 10:00.
WARNINGS
The use of the pool is not permitted for children under 14, who must be accompanied by an adult.
For the peace and safety of customers, it is not allowed to use the swimming pools in the hours of darkness.
No plunge allowed.

Visits and Tastings
Visit our winery in Tuscany, in the heart of the Chianti Classico
At the farm, visits (lasting 1 to 1.5 hours) are organized with tastings of wines and farm products. The visit includes a short scenic walk along the vineyards in the company of the owners or staff.
Guests receive information about the Chianti Classico wine production area and the organic cultivation of the vineyard. The visit continues in the cellar to explain some winemaking techniques, also in relation to different production certifications.
In the cellar, the farm products are presented: extra virgin olive oil, honey, and wine. The tasting is accompanied by a small snack.
For guests who book directly and stay for one week, the winery visit and tasting are free of charge.

AGRITURISMO
What is an Agriturismo?
The Agriturismo is an accommodation facility within a farm, with the aim of enhancing the agricultural resources of the area, also through the provision of hospitality services, with accommodation, visits and restaurant services. Our agriturismo is made up of guest apartments with a shared panoramic swimming pool, a tasting room for visits and a small restaurant.
Is the Agriturismo comparable to a hotel or a restaurant?
The services of an Agriturismo are not those of a hotel and/or a classic restaurant. The management of our agritourism is familiar, there is constant attention to reducing consumption and safeguarding the environment, the procurement services for materials and supplies are located in the area, and the raw materials are produced on the farm or at most in the territory. For this reason, some services, which are easy to find in the city, cannot be provided. This is one of the reasons why it is not possible to stay for less than three nights in our farmhouse. However, basic hospitality services are always guaranteed, through the search for attention to detail, cleanliness, and hospitality.
Do you have rooms or apartments?
In our Agriturismo we have apartments from two to five beds, with independent kitchen, not rooms that can be rented individually.
What do we find in the apartment?
In each apartment you will find sheets, blankets and towels. You will also find toilet paper, disposable napkins and hand soap.
Are the kitchens fully equipped?
Yes, each apartment has a standard supply of crockery and cutlery, a capsule coffee machine, disposable paper, and cleaning products. Gas for hot water and stoves, and electricity are included in the price of the stay.
Do you accept small children and babies?
Yes, certainly. For them we have cots and high chairs. It is always best to request baby equipment in advance.
Is there breakfast?
No, we don’t have breakfast service. However, when the restaurant is open, it’s possible to request a breakfast box the night before. We always recommend purchasing some food before arrival.
Is there a restaurant?
Yes, there is a small restaurant, Osteria Terra di Seta, which however may be closed on certain days or periods. Check opening times on www.terradiseta.com.
Is there Wi-Fi?
Yes, WI-FI is free in the apartments, in the pool area, in the restaurant and in the cellar.
Is there air conditioning?
All our apartments have air conditioning in the bedrooms. The farm is located approximately 500 meters above sea level and is generally quite breezy, with a good temperature range between day and night.
Is there independent heating?
Yes, however the heating operating periods are regulated by our Municipality.
Is there an oven?
The oven is present in the apartments Il Cedro, Il Leccio and Il Melograno
Is there a freezer?
The freezer is present in the apartments Il Cedro, Il Ciliegio, Il Leccio and Il Melograno
Is there washing machine?
The Il Leccio and Il Melograno apartments have a washing machine.
Is there laundry service?
It is possible to deliver the laundry already divided by color to the lady who cleans the apartments. One wash per week is included in the price of the apartment.
Is the cleaning every day?
No, cleaning is provided weekly or at the end of the stay.
Is the change of towels and sheets daily?
Towels and sheets are changed at the end of the week. Extra towels can be requested.
Can I book for just one night?
No, we have apartments and not rooms, and there is a 3 night minimum stay. Our farmhouse is only 20 minutes from Siena. In Siena there are many hotels where it is possible to stay even for just one night.
When do I have to CHECK-IN and CHECK-OUT?
Check-in is between 4 and 7 pm. Check-out is strictly by 10:00 in the morning.
Can I arrive after check in time?

Can I leave after check out time?
Departure must take place before 10 in the morning, to allow for the cleaning of the apartments and external areas, in time before the arrival of new guests. After check out it is not allowed to stay in the pool.
How should I pay?
When booking directly or through our website, a 30% deposit is required. The balance and the tourist tax are paid upon departure in the structure, in cash or by credit card.
What is the cancellation policy?
A 30% deposit is required upon booking. The reservation can be canceled at least 30 days before the expected arrival date, and the amount paid will be refunded.
In the event of cancellation between 7 and 29 days before arrival, the deposit paid will be retained.
In case of cancellation within 7 days of arrival or no-show, the total price will be charged.
Refunds will be subject to a credit card transaction fee or bank charges for wire transfer payments.
How much is the tourist tax?
Tourist Tax is €2.00/person/night for the first week. Children under 7 do not pay the tourist tax.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes, of course, Visa-Master card circuit (not American Express). The tourist tax must be paid in cash.
Is there parking? Is it guarded?
At least one car per apartment has a free shaded place available. The parking is not guarded but is inside the farm which is fenced off.
Can I smoke in the apartments?
Smoking is prohibited in the apartments and in all common areas. Smoking is allowed outdoors but it is absolutely forbidden to leave lit cigarette butts in the countryside. In summer, the fire risk can be very high.
How far is the restaurant?
About 150 meters away from the apartments.
Can I invite friends to the apartment or to the pool?
By law, our accommodations have a limited number of authorized people, so only registered guests are allowed.
Are pets allowed? And if they are small?
Pets in the apartment are not allowed.
Are there animals on the farm?
Yes, there are two dogs and two horses. The apartments are inside a farm with the surrounding forest, consequently it is possible to meet wild animals, insects and small reptiles.
Where can I buy food?
Near Siena there are several supermarkets, also open on Sundays. We recommend UniCoop Fi, at Grondaie, where there is a huge selection of products.
POOLS
What times is the pool open?
The panoramic swimming pool is open every day from 8:00 to 20:00. The swimming pool is exclusive for guests staying in the apartments.
Can children be alone in the pool?
No, it is absolutely forbidden for children to enter the pool area alone. Children under 14 must always be accompanied by an adult even if they are able to swim.
Can we eat in the pool area?
You can only eat in the dedicated outdoor areas, outside each apartment. It is possible to have an aperitif or eat a sandwich in the pool area even after closing time but with respect for the other guests and the peace of others. It is also forbidden to bring tables from the external areas of the apartments to the pool area.
You may enjoy an aperitif in the pool area after closing time, as long as other guests’ peace and quiet is respected. It is not allowed to bring tables from the apartment areas to the pool area.
Are the pools heated?
The pools are not heated.
Can you swim in the pool at night?
No, it’s forbidden.
Can we dive into the pool? Can we play ball in the pool area?
It is forbidden to dive into the pool because the height does not allow it. It is also prohibited to walk on the edge of the infinity side of the pool. You can play ball but without damaging the lawn and flower beds and without disturbing other people.
KOSHER
Are the apartments kosher, like the winery and the restaurant?
It is not possible to certify an apartment. The kitchens of the apartments are NOT Kosher. During the opening periods of the restaurant, however, it is possible to order Kosher food in advance to bring to the apartments. Check restaurant opening on www.terradiseta.com
Is it possible to have a Kosher breakfast?
Breakfast is not provided in our farmhouse. However, it is possible to request kosher food from the restaurant in advance, even something for breakfast.
Are there Kosher utensils I can use?
In the apartments the utensils are not kosher. We recommend that you bring your own or buy them at the supermarket.
Is there Kosher food?
Yes, our restaurant is certified kosher, but we recommend checking the opening hours on www.terradiseta.com before booking your stay at the farmhouse.
Is there food for Shabbat?
Yes, it is possible by reserving kosher meals (Diary) in advance by Thursday, only during the opening periods of the Kosher restaurant. Check opening on www.terradiseta.com
Are there the Plata and the kettle?
Yes, but they are limited in number and it is necessary to book in advance.
Can I leave in the evening at the end of Shabbat?

Where can I find more kosher food?
In Florence there are two kosher restaurants and a supermarket with a kosher section (Carrefour). In Siena, in supermarkets there are several certified products, even if it is not easy to identify them among the shelves.
WINE TOUR
What does a Wine Tour consist of?
The Wine Tour lasts about an hour and a half and includes a tour of the vineyards, a visit to the cellar, and a wine tasting. For details, see the dedicated page on the website.
Do those staying at the farmhouse get a free visit?
For guests who book directly and stay a week, the visit to the cellar and the tasting are free.

TRANSPORT
How can I get to your farmhouse/restaurant/cellar?
Terra di Seta/Agriturismo Le Macie is only a few kilometers from Siena and about 70 km from Florence. Siena is easily reachable with all types of transport, private and public. The best way to reach this place is by car (own, hired or hired with a driver). Otherwise from Siena we recommend taking a taxi. There is also a bus (134) from Siena but it runs infrequently. We suggest including the visit to Terra di Seta as part of a daily tour that also allows you to visit Siena and the surrounding area (Chianti, San Giminiano, Monteriggioni, etc.)
What directions should I follow to reach you?
The best solution is to follow the directions on Google or Waze, simply by typing ‘Terra di Seta’. Instead, we advise against writing the address with the locality on the navigator because it often gives incorrect indications, sending to the Municipality, 45 minutes away by car.
We do not recommend entering the full address with the name of the town into a GPS, as it often gives incorrect directions and may lead you to the town hall, which is a 45-minute drive away.
